To support this agenda, SPEGA is recruiting a Senior Associate Director of Communications, Content & Brand. Reporting to the Vice Dean, the Director will design and implement a comprehensive communications and brand strategy that reinforces the School’s academic excellence, global visibility, and societal impact. The role requires close collaboration with other departments at IE University, including Communications, Global Brand and Marketing, Institutional Relations, Faculty, Research, and Commercial teams, ensuring coherence and alignment across the institution.

The Senior Associate Director of Communications, Content & Brand is responsible for leading SPEGA’s communications, narrative and visibility strategy working in coordination with other departments (communications, global brand and marketing, etc), ensuring that the School’s achievements, thought leadership, and initiatives are effectively shared with key audiences worldwide. The Senior Associate Director oversees corporate communications, manages content creation and dissemination, and strengthens the School’s brand and prestige within the IE ecosystem and beyond.

Working closely with the Vice Dean, faculty, and IE’s transversal teams, the Senior Associate Director ensures that SPEGA’s positioning reflects its ambition to be a top global school of politics, economics, and global affairs, with a distinctive reputation for excellence, innovation, and impact.

The Senior Associate Director will also collaborate with the different units of the School to align the narrative of key messages.

We are looking for a person to join a full-time position inMadrid - IE Tower
Responsibilities
Your role as a Senior Associate Director of Communications, Content & Brand - School of Politics, Economics & Global Affairs will involve:
  • Corporate Communications & Visibility
    • Work closely with the IE University communication team to Develop and implement SPEGA’s corporate communication strategy in line with IE University guidelines.
    • Draft and coordinate messaging for press releases, newsletters, media engagements, and institutional communications together with the Communication department.
    • Support the SPEGA leadership and growing Faculty members in amplifying the visibility of their research and public engagements, including with the polishing of communication materials such as speeches, OpEds and columns when necessary.
    • Ensure consistent positioning and branding across platforms and external engagements.
    • Proactively seek, in coordination with IE’s Communications department, opportunities for engagements with media.
    • Manage relations with external agencies and partners when relevant, ensuring coherence and quality in outsourced communications.
  • Content Management & Storytelling
    • In coordination with other IE departments (Global Brand and Marketing, IE Insights, etc.), plan, curate, and produce content (articles, interviews, videos, social media posts) to showcase the School’s teaching, research, pedagogy, events and global initiatives.
    • Review the School’s social media and digital marketing campaigns calendar to ensure alignment with the strategy of the School.
    • Develop and execute strategic content plans that support both academic and business objectives of the School.
    • Act as a bridge between the academic and commercial areas, ensuring that content reflects both scholarly excellence and institutional goals.
    • Support the development of web content and communication materials such as news pieces, presentations, and institutional documents.
  • Brand, Prestige & Reputation Building
    • Strengthen the School’s brand identity and prestige through high-quality communications initiatives.
    • Identify opportunities to highlight SPEGA in rankings, conferences, international media, global awards and global debates.
    • Promote flagship programs, executive education, and student/faculty achievements across internal and external channels to reinforce institutional reputation.
  • Executive management’s social media
    • Plan, create and optimize content for the SPEGA executive management’s social media channels
  • Cross-Departmental Coordination
    • Serve as liaison with IE’s transversal Communications, Global Brand and Marketing, Commercial, and Institutional Relations teams.
    • Align School activities and campaigns with wider university strategies.
    • Coordinate with Admissions, Global Brand and Marketing and Corporate Relations to ensure consistent messaging across channels.
  • External Engagement & Events
    • Support high-level events, conferences, and visits, ensuring maximum visibility.
    • Build networks with media, think tanks, and institutional partners to expand the School’s influence.
    • Facilitate storytelling opportunities with external stakeholders and alumni.
  • Strategy, Monitoring & Reporting
    • Draft and execute an annual communications and brand strategy in collaboration with the Vice Dean.
    • Monitor media coverage, brand perception, and visibility metrics, together with the Communications and Global Brand and Marketing departments.
    • Produce regular reports and recommendations on communications performance.
    • Track and analyse content performance metrics to measure impact and identify opportunities for improvement.
    Qualifications
    To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
    • Master’s degree in communications, journalism, international affairs, public policy, economics, business, marketing, or a related field.
    • At least 7–10 years of professional experience in communications, content management, branding, or institutional relations, preferably in academic, international, or mission-driven environments.
    • Strong track record of developing and executing strategic communications and brand campaigns.
    • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills in English (Spanish fluency required; additional languages an asset).
    • Proven experience managing content production across digital and traditional platforms.
    • Deep understanding of branding, visibility, and reputation management.
    • Ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders, faculty, media, and external partners.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
