Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Research Scientist in Applied Microbiology based in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will lead research on microbial solutions to improve crop health, nutrient uptake, and disease control, combining lab work and field trials.

The role requires a Ph.D. in microbiology or related field, 5+ years of post-doctoral/industry experience, and expertise in molecular biology, microbial ecology, and experimental design. On-site work in Queenstown is essential.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Microbiology, Agricultural Science, Soil Science, or related field with emphasis on applied microbiology.
Minimum of 5 years post-PhD experience in agricultural research is preferred.
Strong expertise in microbial ecology and molecular biology techniques.

Responsibilities

Lead research projects in applied microbiology for agricultural applications.
Design and conduct field trials to evaluate microbial bio-products.
Analyze microbial communities and interpret results for reports and presentations.
Collaborate with agronomists and other scientists to advance crop solutions.
