Placements24, on behalf of its client, seeks a Senior Data Scientist with a strong focus on AI and machine learning to join the team in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will lead data science initiatives, mentor junior team members, and collaborate across departments to extract actionable insights from vast datasets.

The role requires a Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field, 5+ years of experience, and proficiency in Python or R, SQL, and ML libraries.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist, with a strong focus on AI/ML.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing machine learning models (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, deep learning).
• Proficiency in Python or R and relevant libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas).
• Experience with SQL and working with large databases.
• Strong understanding of statistical modeling and experimental design.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy advanced machine learning models to address key business problems.
• Conduct in-depth data analysis, identify trends, and derive actionable insights from large datasets.
• Design and implement robust data mining and statistical analysis procedures.
