Capitole is seeking a Senior AI Product Engineer in Barcelona to join a product-focused technology team. You will own end-to-end product development, from problem shaping to production, combining software engineering with applied AI.

You will work across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, and integrations, using Python, TypeScript, React, FastAPI, and AI-enabled tooling to deliver measurable business impact. Hybrid model with 3 days onsite weekly.

We are looking for a Senior AI Product Engineer to join a product-focused technology team in Barcelona.

This is not a pure AI/ML role. We are looking for a strong end-to-end engineer who can understand real business problems, work directly with users, challenge requirements, simplify complexity, and turn ideas into practical products that deliver measurable impact.

You will be involved across the full product lifecycle: from understanding the problem and shaping the solution, to designing, building, iterating, and taking it to production.

You will work across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, integrations, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities, using technologies such as Python, TypeScript, React, FastAPI, and LLM-based tools where they genuinely add value.

What you’ll do

• Work directly with business teams and end users to understand their challenges, workflows, and real needs
• Translate business requirements into simple, effective, and scalable digital products
• Design and build end-to-end solutions across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, and system integrations
• Develop backend services using Python and frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask
• Design and integrate REST APIs and connect solutions with corporate systems and internal platforms
• Automate business processes and repetitive workflows
• Apply Generative AI where it creates real value, including LLMs, RAG, embeddings, semantic search, and AI agents
• Work iteratively with users, validating assumptions and continuously improving the product based on feedback
• Take ownership of solutions from initial discovery through development, deployment, and production support
• Make pragmatic technical decisions, balancing speed, simplicity, scalability, and maintainability
• Identify when a simple solution is more effective than a complex architecture
• Collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle
• Continuously explore new technologies and propose improvements where they can have a tangible business impact
• Strong professional experience in software engineering and end-to-end product development
• Strong proficiency in Python
• Hands-on experience with React
• Experience developing backend services with FastAPI, Django, Flask, or similar frameworks
• Strong understanding of REST APIs and system integration
• Experience working with relational databases
• Experience integrating applications with corporate systems or third-party platforms
• Ability to work across both backend and frontend when needed
• Experience taking software solutions from requirements to production
• Strong product mindset and ability to understand the business problem behind the technical request
• Confidence interacting directly with business users and technical stakeholders
• Ability to challenge, clarify, and simplify requirements
• High level of autonomy, ownership, and decision-making capability
• Pragmatic problem-solving mindset and focus on business impact
• Hands-on experience with LLM-powered applications
• Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• Knowledge of embeddings and vector databases
• Experience with semantic search
• Experience building AI agents or agentic workflows
• Experience automating internal business processes
• Familiarity with AI APIs and modern GenAI tooling
• Experience designing UX for internal tools or enterprise applications
• Experience building AI-enabled products rather than purely experimental prototypes
• Strong interest in applied AI, automation, and emerging product technologies
