Job summary

Nexeo Plastics is seeking an experienced EMEA Accounting Controller to support accounting, audit, internal control, legal and tax processes in Spain. The role covers month-end closing, statutory reporting, and ensuring US GAAP compliance across entities.

You will coordinate with the Closing & Reporting team, prepare financial statements, notes, and management reports, and assist external auditors on statutory accounts.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with US GAAP and local GAAP requirements.
• Strong SOX compliance knowledge and control design.
• Ability to prepare reconciliations and financial statements.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate month-end closing activities for entities according to schedule and US GAAP/internal guidelines.
• Take responsibility for quarterly tax calculations and schedules.
• Prepare corrective entries based on month-end monitoring of financial results.
• Liaise with Closing & Reporting team on closing progress.
• Identify country-specific legal & statutory requirements and compile statutory accounts.
• Support in preparation of local Management Board meetings.
• Coordinate with external and internal auditors.
• Identify, valuate and quantify internal risks and ensure SOX compliance.
• Participate in ad-hoc projects.

Job description

To assist the EMEA Controller in Accounting, Audit, Internal control, Legal and Tax areas.

The Main Tasks:

• Ensure compliance with US GAAP/ Local GAAP requirements / SOX / Tax Compliance
• Accountable for the preparation of reconciliations and documentation of all submitted financial data, e.g. the financial statements
• Continual improvements of financial processes

Closing activities:

• Coordination and execution of the month end closing activities of the entities according to closing schedule and in line with both US GAAP and internal accounting guidelines
• Responsible for the quarterly tax calculations & schedules
• Coordination and/or preparation of corrective entries that are needed based on monitoring of the financial results during the month-end closing
• Liaise with Closing & Reporting team on preparation and progress of the closing

Statutory Reporting:

• Identify country specific Legal & Statutory requirements (e.g content, format, filing due dates, penalties)
• Compile Statutory Accounts (e.g. coordinate completion of Statutory Accounts, prepare Financial Statements, prepare Notes to the Financial Statements, prepare Management Report, file Financial Statements)
• Document Year-end Balance Sheet Specifications (reconciliation, supporting documentation)

Other Tasks:

• Support in preparation of local Management Board Meetings
• Contact with external and internal auditors
• Identify, valuate and quantify any Internal risks
• Ensures SOX compliance with the locations in the country/countries
• Participate in special ad-hoc projects
