Trek Travel seeks a part-time host to oversee Self-Guided trips in Mallorca, based in Palma and Pollensa. You will be the main contact for guests, prep bikes, greet guests, and assist throughout the trip duration.

You must know bike mechanics, hold current First Aid and CPR, have a clean driving record, and reside within an hour of Palma. Availability March–October is required; duties include safety briefings and trip end reports.

• Available March–October and able to travel to trip locations.
• Proficient in driving a standard transmission with a trailer.

Responsabilidades

• Read trip itinerary and trip reports prior to trip start.
• Prepare all bikes prior to trip start according to Trek Travel standards.
• Greet guests on Day 1 and on departure day.
• Ensure waiver forms are completed and RWGPS tracks are accurate.
• Provide region orientation and safety demonstrations for guests.
• Complete Trip End Reports and post-trip duties.

Trek Travel provides global cycling, hiking, and walking vacations of a lifetime with the goal of helping more people actively explore and experience the world. We are seeking specifically located candidates who will be responsible for overseeing and hosting Trek Travel’s Self-Guided trips in Mallorca, Spain, specifically in Palma and Pollensa. You will be the main point of contact for Trek Travel Self-Guided Guests while they are on trip, preparing bikes, greeting guests, and being available for any needs that arise in the duration of the trip.

POSITION RESPONSIBILTIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Read trip itinerary and trip reports prior to trip start
• Prepare all bikes prior to trip start according to Trek Travel standards
• Charge all electronic devices, such as Di2, lights and e-bike batteries
• Ensure RWGPS experience is updated for guests and guests know how to use it
• Ensure GPS tracks are accurate and ready for guests
• Greet guests on Day 1 at Trek Bicycle Mallorca
• Ensure guests filled out Waiver and Release of Liability forms
• Give guests an orientation of the region and the trip days
• Show guests where bikes and equipment are stored at the hotel
• Conduct a safety and RWGPS talk in addition to a bike demo before the first ride
• Greet guests on departure day
• Ensure bikes on departure day are mechanically sound
• Complete all trip end duties such as a Trip End Report

YOU HAVE/ARE:

• Knowledge of bike mechanics such as:
  • Remove and replace either a tube and/or tire from both the front and rear of a bike, and properly seat wheel in the dropouts with proper tightening of the quick release lever
  • Remove and install pedals
  • Adjust a bike saddle, both height and fore/aft position
  • Remove and replace a brake cable on a road bike equipped with internally routed cables
  • Properly adjust both brake pad alignment and lever throw on a road bike
  • Remove and replace a derailleur cable on a road bike equipped with internally routed cables
  • Properly adjust both front and rear derailleurs on a road bike
  • Properly tape handlebars on a road bike
  • Demonstrate general familiarity with carbon fiber bike frames
  • Change a handlebar stem and properly tighten to the specified torque
• Adjust a bike helmet for the proper fit
• At least 23 years old
• Reside within 1 hour of Palma - needs to be able to reliably transport to trip location which starts in Palma and will need to be able to drive to Pollensa on Day 1
• Clear driving record
• Current First Aid and CPR certifications
• Proficient driving a standard transmission with a trailer
• Available in the months of March - October

HOST COMPENSATION RATES:

• The host gets paid weekly for the first and last day of each trip.
• The host gets paid for each prepped bike.
• If an emergency happens and The Host spends time assisting guests, the host will be paid an hourly rate.
• Gratuities are not recommended on Self-Guided trips. However, guests can tip the host at their discretion, based on the Host’s level of service.

At Trek Travel, we think outside the box, continuously improve, encourage feedback, and give it all we have, all the time, no exceptions. This is a part-time, contracted position. This position reports to the Director of Guide Operations and will work cross-functionally with the Guide and Trip Design Departments. This position is based in Mallorca. Interest in the active travel industry is beneficial, but not necessary.
