Job summary

UK Power Networks is seeking an Ops Telecoms Technician to join the Networks Operations team in the Chatham area. The role focuses on SCADA comms, fault rectification, and maintenance for over 2000 sites with 24/7 operational coverage.

You will install, modify, and repair SCADA and telecoms equipment, with travel to other locations as needed. The role requires experience with SCADA systems, inter-tripping, and diverse telecoms hardware.

Qualifications

In-depth knowledge of SCADA and its real-time control applications in substations and equipment.
Awareness of inter-tripping and protection systems.
Competent in wiring diagram interpretation and repair tasks.
Hold a full driving licence and be able to travel to various locations.

Responsibilities

Maintain high safety standards and follow safety procedures in all tasks.
Conduct wiring and SCADA-related activities on site, performing modifications or repairs.
Deliver upgrades and improvements to SCADA equipment in Grid, Primary and Secondary substations.
Construct Telecontrol Equipment Cubicles and other SCADA equipment in East Ham workshops.
Manage stock levels and procure spares up to £50k; handle monthly corporate card purchases up to £2k.
