The Opportunity

Location: Barcelona

Mission: Reporting to the Group Accounting Manager and as part of the Shared Service Center located in Barcelona, the successful candidate will support a company or group of companies with all financial matters.

Role Overview

We are seeking a General Accountant responsible for supporting and supervising the general ledger and main financial information. The individual will serve as the main contact for Local Controllers, helping ensure compliance with financial criteria across their assigned companies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Monthly Closing & Reporting:
   • Execute accounting activities related to monthly, quarterly, and annual closes.
   • Ensure completion of tasks according to closing procedures and group accounting standards.
   • Manage quarterly inter-company reconciliations.
   • Prepare, verify, and submit group reports.
2. Balance Sheet Control:
   • Ensure the Balance Sheet reflects reliable and accurate information per Group and Statutory standards.
3. Liquidity Planning:
   • Perform monthly cash flow forecasting and analyze deviations.
4. Tax Responsibilities:
   • Ensure timely compliance with all tax obligations and reporting.
   • Handle tax accounting processes.
5. Audit & Statutory Reporting:
   • Lead internal and external audit processes.
   • Maintain a second set of books for statutory reporting according to local standards.
6. Budgeting & Forecasting:
   • Manage balance sheet and cash flow budgeting and forecasting.
   • Support local controllers in planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities.

Candidate Profile

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting.
• Fluent in Spanish and English; French and/or German skills are a plus.
• Flexible, motivated, autonomous, and capable of working in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Proficient in SAP and MS Office; knowledge of European accounting standards is preferred.
