LEVEL Airlines, a Barcelona-based long-haul operator within the IAG group, seeks a Safety & Compliance Manager AOC to strengthen the Safety Management System and regulatory compliance across the organisation. The role acts as deputy to the Safety Manager and oversees risk management, investigations, and regulatory liaison.

Key duties include leading hazard identification and SPIs analysis, coordinating the FDM programme, and driving continuous improvement through audits and change management.

Formación

  • Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS).
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
  • Aerospace engineering background or ATPL holder required.
  • Strong understanding of airline operations and aviation regulations.

Job Purpose

The Safety & Compliance Manager AOC is responsible for supporting the effectiveness and continuous improvement of the Company’s Safety Management System (SMS), Compliance Monitoring Function, and Change Management processes, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and promoting the highest standards of safety and operational excellence. The position acts as deputy to the Safety Manager and supports the Compliance Monitoring Function through safety oversight, risk management, occurrence investigations, Flight Data Monitoring (FDM), compliance audits, regulatory liaison, and change management activities. The role requires close collaboration with Nominated Persons, operational departments, regulatory authorities, and external stakeholders to ensure the organization maintains the highest levels of safety performance and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
Safety Management
  • Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Company’s Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Act as deputy to the Safety Manager when required.
  • Lead hazard identification, safety risk assessments, occurrence management, and safety investigations.
  • Monitor safety performance through the analysis of safety data, trends, and Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs).
  • Coordinate and oversee the Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) Programme, ensuring compliance with regulatory and confidentiality requirements.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through training, communication, and safety promotion initiatives.
Compliance Monitoring
  • Support the effectiveness of the Compliance Monitoring Function and ensure compliance with applicable aviation regulations and internal procedures.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and monitoring activities in accordance with the approved Compliance Monitoring Programme.
  • Manage findings and oversee the implementation and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor organizational compliance performance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Change Management & Regulatory Affairs
  • Coordinate organizational and operational change management processes, including risk and impact assessments.
  • Support the approval, implementation, monitoring, and communication of operational and regulatory changes.
  • Act as a focal point with AESA and support regulatory submissions, notifications, approvals, and oversight activities.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure relevant requirements are communicated and implemented throughout the organization.
Stakeholder Management & Reporting
  • Collaborate with Nominated Persons, operational departments, aviation authorities, OEMs, and external stakeholders on safety and compliance matters.
  • Coordinate actions arising from Safety Action Groups (SAGs) and Management System reviews.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and management summaries related to safety, compliance, and operational performance.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and departmental data in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Essential
  • Aeronautical Engineer, Aeronautical Technical Engineer, Graduate in Aerospace Engineering, or holder of an Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL).
  • Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS).
  • Verified proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
  • Good understanding of airline operational environments and aviation regulations.
  • Knowledge of Regulation (EU) 965/2012 and EASA Air Operations requirements.
Desirable
  • Formal training in Safety Management Systems.
  • Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification.
  • Training in aviation occurrence investigation methodologies.
  • Training in risk assessment and root cause analysis.
  • Training in Change Management processes.
  • Knowledge of Flight Data Monitoring programmes.
Experience
Essential
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position or within Air Operations
  • Demonstrable previous experience of at least 1 year in Safety, Compliance Monitoring, Management Systems.
  • Relevant experience in Management Systems, including Compliance Monitoring activities.
  • Experience working within a regulated aviation environment.
Desirable
  • Experience within an EASA Air Operator Certificate (AOC) environment.
  • Experience conducting audits and inspections.
  • Experience supporting regulatory oversight activities and authority audits.
  • Experience with occurrence reporting, investigations, and safety performance monitoring.
  • Experience in Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) analysis.
  • Experience managing operational and organizational changes.
  • Experience interacting with aviation authorities such as AESA or other EASA competent authorities.
