Your Role

As a Rust Developer at Volpex, you will be a core contributor to our algorithmic trading platform. You will design, implement, and optimise real-time trading systems that operate across both centralised and decentralised exchanges. You will collaborate closely with quantitative researchers and infrastructure engineers to ensure our strategies are performant, scalable, and production-ready. This is a hybrid position based in Málaga, Spain, with flexible remote options for candidates within European time zones.

Day to day

• Build and maintain trading engines, exchange connectors, and execution logic in Rust
• Develop and test real-time strategies for both CeFi and DeFi markets
• Integrate exchange APIs (REST, WebSocket, FIX) and on-chain data feeds
• Contribute to performance tuning, observability, and fault-tolerance
• Collaborate in architecture discussions and code reviews within a small, focused team

Must-Haves

• Programming experience in Rust (or willingness to learn)
• Experience with REST APIs, WebSockets, and asynchronous programming
• Interest in algorithmic trading, market microstructure, and Web3 strategy development
• Experience maintaining production systems or trading engines
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and systems design skills
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field

Nice-to-Haves

• Understanding of blockchain fundamentals and DeFi protocols
• Familiarity with CEX / DEX APIs and trading protocols (e.g., FIX, EIP-712)
• Prior experience in trading environments, either Web2 or Web3
• Experience with infrastructure tools like Docker, Grafana, Github Actions, etc.
