Ukrainian Russian Video Remote Interpreter (VRI)

Job Title: Ukrainian, Russian Interpreter

Location: Remote, work from home in Spain

Position Overview: The Ukrainian Russian Medical VRI is responsible for handling on-demand audio and video calls to serve our limited English proficient (LEP) community and practitioners in a variety of industries such as Healthcare, Government, Community, Education, etc.

Job Functions:

1. Provide effective video and audio interpreting sessions in a professional manner.
2. Capture company-provided data during the interpreting session when required.
3. Demonstrate the ability to adapt quickly to new and changing technologies.
4. Adhere to interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements specific to interpreting context.
5. Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment.
6. Respect for and understanding of our Limited English Proficient (LEP) clients, culture, dialect, and beliefs and preferences.
7. Strong aptitude and passion for customer service and interpreting.
8. Maintain a professional demeanor throughout the video and audio sessions.
9. Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
10. Render exact and correct concepts and meanings according to interpreter protocol.

Qualifications:

1. Fluent and have strong verbal communication skills in both the source and target language (Ukrainian Russian to English and vice versa).
2. Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills to maintain a high level of accuracy during interpretation.
3. Successful completion of a proficiency assessment or have a national certification.
4. Extensive knowledge of code of ethics and standards of practice (IMIA, NBCMI, and NCIHC).
5. HIPAA compliant work environment and setting.
6. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Ability to read and write in the requested languages.
2. Degree or certifications in interpreting practices.
3. National Medical Interpreter Certification by CCHI, NBCMI, or DSHS.
4. Accredited Medical Interpreting Training course (i.e., ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural training, 40-hour accredited medical courses).

Technical Requirements:

1. High-speed internet connection, cable or fiber optic services preferred.
2. HIPAA compliant workspace, with 4 walls and a door that locks.
3. Computer must have a direct connection into the modem.
4. Home office must have a blue or green backdrop.
5. Workspace must be quiet, distraction-free from people, pets, or outside noise.
