Offer Description

a) Tasks to be performed :

  • Maintenance, care, and euthanasia of animals (categories A and B of Order ECC / 566 / 2015), which may include carrying out R&D procedures (category C).
  • General maintenance of the animal facility (cleaning of rooms and materials and stock control and storage of materials).
  • Participation in the implementation of new equipment and infrastructure, as well as in the development and implementation of standardised work protocols and guides for the use of the equipment in the animal facility and for common use at the CICA.
  • Technical support in handling, improvement, maintenance, and management of scientific-technical equipment, installation of the Animal Experimentation Unit, and other infrastructures.
  • Training researchers in the use of scientific and technical equipment of the animal facility and other facilities of the CICA, providing support in their use.
  • Collaboration in coordinating the use of the animal facility and CICA equipment during seminars, congresses, and workshops, ensuring proper functioning and availability.

Specific Requirements

b) Requirements

  • Qualification : High School, BUP, FP2, Advanced specific vocational training certificate (ASVTC), preferably related to life and health sciences.
  • Experience in developing different animal models in rodents and fish.
  • Specialised training in life and health sciences, specifically in animal experimentation.
  • Possess or be able to obtain accreditation for animal experimentation functions by the competent authority (training for animal experimentation). Accreditations of categories A, B, and C of Order ECC / 566 / 2015 are highly valued.
  • Experience and training in scientific equipment and instrumental techniques.
  • Basic English proficiency.
  • Computer skills at user level; previous training in animal management software (Anibio).
  • Ability to work in a team, responsibility, and initiative.

Additional Information

Eligibility criteria

Academic qualification : In life and health sciences

  • High School : ASVTC or FP in life and health sciences : 5 points
  • ASVTC or FP in other fields : 3 points

Experience :

  • Experience in developing animal models and managing colonies of genetically modified animals : 0.5 points / month, up to 15 points
  • Experience in animal care and handling : 0.5 points / month, up to 20 points
  • Experience in clinical techniques (DNA extraction, quantification, storage, FISH, karyotyping, cryopreservation, etc.) : 0.5 points / month, up to 5 points

Training :

  • Training for animal experimentation functions A, B, and C (Order ECC / 566 / 2015) : A=5 points, B=5 points, C=5 points
  • Specialised training in life and health sciences, animal experimentation, and computer skills (Anibio) : 0.1 points / hour, up to 10 points; 0.5 points / hour, up to 5 points

Personal interview : Top scoring candidates (max 4) with a minimum cutoff score of 40 points will be interviewed, worth 20 points. The minimum score to be on the waiting list is 60 points.
