The Instituto Biofisika is seeking research scientists at postdoctoral and predoctoral levels to join a collaborative environment. The successful candidates will advance computational methodologies for analyzing 3D cellular imagery using software like Dynamo. Ideal candidates should possess robust technical skills in mathematics, programming, and have an interest in Life Sciences.
The Instituto Biofisika (IBF) is a joint research centre of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). Located at the Leioa Campus of the University of the Basque Country, the centre focuses on fundamental and translational biophysics research and offers a highly collaborative culture.
Currently, the IBF is accepting expressions of interest for research scientist positions at both postdoctoral and predoctoral levels. Successful candidates will join the Laboratory for Numerical Methods of Cryo Electron Tomography (cryoET), led by Dr. Daniel Castaño Díez.
The group advances computational methodologies for the automated analysis and interpretation of 3D cellular imagery, primarily through its in-house software platform Dynamo. This research includes projects like "Time-resolving the mechanism of exocytosis in situ," funded by the Human Frontiers Science Program, which has provided insights into exocytosis mechanics in living cells through cryo electron tomography processing. The group aims to extend this tool by integrating deep learning techniques to identify and characterize small, flexible proteins within their natural environments.
Ideal candidates should hold an official degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or similar, with a strong background in Matlab. An interest in Life Sciences research is also expected.
