Formación

Offer Description Context And Mission

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) and the Spanish National Bioinformatics Institute (INB) are leaders in computational research and infrastructure development. Our mission is to develop cutting-edge infrastructure for ELIXIR projects and health-related research, enabling advancements in bioinformatics and computational biology. We seek a talented Research Engineer to contribute to these innovative projects.

Key Duties

  • Programming : Demonstrate proficiency in programming, especially in Python, Java, and / or R, following good practices.
  • Software Architecture : Assist in designing and planning software architecture and components.
  • API Integration : Integrate developments with external APIs.
  • Documentation : Document and publish data and software following FAIR standards.

Requirements Education

  • Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
  • MSc in Bioinformatics or equivalent experience is desirable but not mandatory.

Essential Knowledge and Experience

  • Strong development skills in UNIX / Linux environments.
  • Experience with Docker and / or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with collaborative software development tools (git, CI / CD, documentation).

Competences

  • Interest in applying computer science to biomedical sciences.
  • Ability to learn new technologies.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

Conditions

The position is located at BSC within the Life Sciences Department. We offer a full-time contract (37.5h / week), a stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible hours, training, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, and relocation support. The contract is open-ended, starting ASAP. Benefits include 23 paid vacation days plus additional holidays during Christmas. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and cost of living in Barcelona.
