Job summary

Kapa.ai is seeking a Research Engineer to advance its AI assistants’ ability to handle increasingly complex technical questions. You will explore RAG systems, benchmark creation, and agentic retrieval strategies, collaborating with the founding team and engineers from day one.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s or PhD in a related field, with hands-on experience in training and deploying LLMs, vector databases, and evaluation systems.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in CS/ML/Math/Stats or related field.
• Strong understanding of ML, DL, NLP and LLMs.
• Hands-on experience training, fine-tuning and deploying LLMs.
• Experience with vector databases and dense retrieval.
• Experience building evaluation systems for LLMs or search.
• Familiar with lexical and dense vector search techniques.
• Ability to thrive in a fast, loosely defined environment.
• Interest in ML research and applying it to kapa.ai.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with the founding team and software engineers to design experiments.
• Stay up-to-date with ML research and apply it to kapa.ai.
• Design and run experiments to improve retrieval and QA capabilities.
