Created in 2005 by the Generalitat de Catalunya (Government of Catalonia) and the University of Barcelona, IRB Barcelona is a Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence—a seal awarded in 2011. The institute conducts biomedical research and transfers results to clinical practice, aiming to improve quality of life while promoting training, technology transfer, and science communication. It has 29 laboratories and seven core facilities focusing on diseases such as cancer, metastasis, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and rare conditions. IRB Barcelona hosts 500 members from 45 nationalities and is located in the Barcelona Science Park. It is part of BIST and CERCA.

Your Role & Our Team

IRB Barcelona seeks a motivated Research Assistant/Lab Manager to join the Comparative Genomics group, which explores the genomic bases of organismal adaptations, especially in microbes. This position is funded by the project "CPP2021-008552" financed by MICIU/AEI and the European Union’s "NextGenerationEU"/PRTR.

Key responsibilities

1. Management of lab databases and sample/reagent banks
2. Purchasing
3. Supervision of technical staff and students
4. Implementation of novel experimental approaches
5. Analysis, interpretation, and presentation of research findings
6. Contribution to research reports and publications

You have

• PhD in biological sciences or related field
• Interpersonal and effective communication skills
• Teamwork and collaborative attitude
• Motivated and proactive approach
• Fluency in English

You might also have

• Experience in yeast and cell-line culturing, molecular biology, microbiology techniques
• Leadership and management experience
