Job summary

Our client, a leading national freight company, seeks a Route and Logistics Planner for its Goods Transport division. This fully remote role in Spain focuses on designing, implementing, and optimizing routes to maximize efficiency, minimize costs, and ensure timely deliveries using advanced routing software and TMS.

The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, and capable of handling real-time adjustments while ensuring compliance with hours of service and Spanish regulations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in logistics planning, route optimization, or transportation management.
• Proficiency with route planning software and TMS.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
• Excellent understanding of logistics operations and freight transportation principles.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with remote teams.
• Familiarity with Spanish transportation laws and regulations.
• High school diploma required; a degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is a significant advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize daily, weekly, and monthly transportation routes for our fleet, considering delivery windows, vehicle capacity, and driver hours.
• Utilize routing software and GPS technology to create efficient delivery sequences.
• Analyze transportation data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost reduction and service improvement.
• Collaborate with dispatchers, drivers, and customer service teams to ensure smooth route execution.
• Monitor real-time delivery progress and adjust routes in response to traffic, weather, or vehicle issues.
• Ensure all planned routes comply with transportation regulations, including hours of service.
• Generate reports on route performance, mileage, fuel consumption, and on-time delivery rates.
• Maintain accurate route information in the transportation management system (TMS).
• Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans for route disruptions.
