Job summary

X4 Technology is seeking a Linux Device Driver Engineer to work on upstream ARM SoC enablement on a contract, fully remote basis across Europe. You will develop peripheral and controller drivers from hardware manuals, perform board bring-up and hardware debugging.

Candidates should have strong C and Linux kernel fundamentals, ARM/SoC experience, and upstream contributions; knowledge of Device Tree, clocks, resets, and DMA is a plus.

Qualifications

• Strong C and Linux kernel fundamentals, with ARM/SoC experience.
• Experience writing drivers from hardware manuals or datasheets (platform drivers, probe/remove, clocks, resets, interrupts, DMA).
• Upstream Linux contributions: patches accepted into mainline, working with maintainers, responding to review, and handling patch series.

Responsibilities

• Develop peripheral and controller drivers from hardware manuals: SPI, I²C, DMA and interrupt routing.
• Handle Device Tree integration and upstream submission for new silicon.
• Board bring-up and low-level hardware debugging on real hardware.
• Touch areas such as ASoC, pinctrl, Ethernet/PHY and thermal drivers as needed.
• Collaborate with upstream maintainers to land patches and address review feedback.
