Job summary

Eighth Billion seeks a growth marketer and short-form video creator to scale the life simulator built on UN data. You will plan, script and edit YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Instagram Reels, test hooks and thumbnails, and publish data-driven videos people share.

Work 100% remotely, worldwide, as a freelance contractor paid hourly in EUR. You’ll report weekly metrics and pursue collaborations with educators and newsletters while maintaining data integrity.

We are looking for a growth marketer and short-form video creator to grow Eighth Billion, a free life simulator that turns UN population data into one life you can play. You will run our short-form channels, including the Can AI Actually? series (AI models vs real UN numbers), and turn data stories into videos people share.

About Eighth Billion

Eighth Billion (lifein8billion.com) is a free, browser-based life simulator built on real UN data. Each life draws a real birth from UN World Population Prospects 2024 (country, sex, year, family income quintile, urban or rural) and runs it forward year by year from published life tables. It covers 237 countries and territories. It is a simulation of the odds behind the "1 in 8 billion" idea, not a prediction about anyone. We are a small, fully remote, global team that works asynchronously across time zones. There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking cookies by default, and every dataset we publish is open and cited.

What you will do

• Plan, script and edit YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Instagram Reels from real data: birth odds, life expectancy and "where would you be born?" hooks.
• Own the publishing calendar, captions, hashtags, pinned comments and profile links, and test hooks and thumbnails.
• Measure what works (retention, shares, click-through to the site) and report weekly in plain numbers.
• Find creators, educators and newsletters who would feature the simulator, and run small collaborations.

What you bring

• A portfolio of short-form videos you made or grew, with real view or retention numbers.
• Strong editing skills (CapCut, Premiere, DaVinci or similar), a sense of pace and on-screen text that reads at phone size.
• Comfort with numbers. You will never round a statistic into a false claim.
• Fluent English. A second language is a plus.

Compensation and terms

• €35–55 per hour, as a freelance contractor, paid monthly in EUR for hours worked.
• 100% remote, worldwide. Any country, any time zone, with a few hours of overlap per week for async reviews.
• Flexible hours. Scope is agreed in small, clearly defined milestones, and good work leads to more of it.
