Job summary

Upsun is hiring a Software Engineer to build and maintain backend billing services. You will own components handling invoices, taxes, usage reporting, and integrations with external systems, impacting customers across multiple products and currencies.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional backend development in Go.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL/MariaDB.
• Experience integrating external REST APIs and handling errors, retries, rate limits.
• Attention to detail in billing and financial systems.
• Testing and reliability: unit/integration tests, failure paths.
• Security awareness in backend services.
• Interest in billing/financial systems.
• Clear asynchronous communication across teams.

Responsibilities

• Build billing integrations: backend services and API integrations in Go for external billing systems.
• Ship usage-based billing features: usage tracking, estimates, invoicing.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to measure and charge features.
• Complete billing migrations: move billing to external systems while keeping data accurate.
• Troubleshoot and fix billing issues raised by Support and Finance.
• Protect customers and data: anti-abuse measures and security considerations.
• Work across teams: partner with Finance, Product, and Support across multiple regions.
• Write tested, well-documented code and participate in code reviews.
