Job summary

Toptal is seeking a Data Analytics Engineer to own the data transformation layer and governance for its data warehouse. You will collaborate with Data Engineers and Business Analysts to ensure high-quality, trustworthy data across the organization, using SQL daily and advanced AI tooling.

Fluency with LLMs and agentic coding tools is required. You will work in a fully remote setup, aligning analytics with business objectives and delivering data-driven decisions at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years shipping production data models as Analytics Engineer, Data Engineer, or Data Analyst.
• Expert-level SQL skills and working knowledge of Python.
• Fluency with LLMs and agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor) for daily practice.
• Experience with cloud data warehousing (BigQuery or Snowflake).
• Knowledge of modern transformation frameworks (dbt, Dataform, SQLMesh).
• Git fluency: PRs, code reviews, production environments.
• Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, Cloud Composer, Dagster, Prefect).
• Experience in exploratory/raw data analysis, data modeling, and data governance.
• Translate business logic to SQL and link analytics to business strategy.
• Familiarity with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI).
• Strong communication and collaboration; independent work mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, review and deploy SQL models transforming raw data into usable data products.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to add and publish new data sources in the warehouse.
• Monitor data warehouse quality, accuracy, and usability, extracting actionable insights.
• Turn business asks into modeled data; define grain, edge cases, and business rules.
• Improve data quality, coverage, lineage, access, and retention across source databases.
• Own and document the data dictionary; trace fields to origins for AI and humans.
• Diagnose and resolve data incidents and review teammates’ code.
• Work with Business Analysts, Data Scientists, and process owners to enable data-driven decisions.
• Empower end users to understand data nuances and limitations.
• Improve agent playbooks, docs, and tooling for warehouse operations.
