About Sierra Recovery :

Sierra Recovery is a private residential treatment centre located in the tranquil hills of Málaga, Spain. We specialise in the treatment of addiction, trauma, and co-occurring mental health challenges, offering a holistic and integrated programme tailored to each individual. Our environment is warm, therapeutic, and clinically robust — fostering recovery, growth, and long-term wellbeing.

Role Summary :

We are seeking a committed and experienced Registered Nurse to join our multidisciplinary clinical team. The postholder will provide high-quality nursing care within a residential therapeutic setting, supporting clients through detox, mental health stabilisation, and physical health monitoring. The role requires clinical confidence, emotional resilience, and a strong team ethic.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Undertake comprehensive nursing assessments on admission and monitor clients’ ongoing physical and mental health.
  • Provide safe and effective detox support, including the use of clinical tools such as CIWA-AR , CIWA-B , and COWS for withdrawal management.
  • Conduct routine physical health monitoring , including vital signs, ECGs, and other relevant observations.
  • Administer prescribed medication in accordance with protocols and maintain accurate MARs and clinical documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, GPs, psychologists, and therapists to ensure integrated, person-centred care.
  • Respond promptly to medical or psychiatric concerns, escalating appropriately and implementing care interventions.
  • Contribute to risk assessments, care planning, and multidisciplinary case discussions.
  • Participate in handovers, audits, and quality improvement initiatives to support high standards of clinical governance.
  • Promote health education, relapse prevention strategies, and recovery-focused support for clients.
  • Adhere to safeguarding, infection control, and health and safety policies at all times.
  • Uphold confidentiality, professional boundaries, and a therapeutic ethos within the team.

Essential Requirements :

  • Minimum 2 years’ post-registration experience, ideally within substance misuse, mental health, or residential services.
  • Skilled in the use of CIWA-AR, CIWA-B, and COWS assessment tools.
  • Confident in physical health monitoring and responding to clinical deterioration.
  • Calm, compassionate, and professional in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and documentation skills.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish is an asset but not required.
  • Eligible to work in Spain (EU passport or valid residency / work permit).
  • Experience working in a private or international healthcare environment.
  • Training or familiarity with trauma-informed care and harm reduction approaches.
  • Additional qualifications or CPD in substance use treatment or psychiatric care.
