A game development studio is seeking an experienced Project Lead to manage a Realistic 3D Character Art team. Responsibilities include ensuring quality standards, mentoring team members, and developing 3D characters for games. Ideal candidates have strong skills in character creation tools such as ZBrush and Substance Painter, along with project management experience.

you have are

  • Proven experience as a Project Lead or Team Lead within a Realistic 3D Character Art team in a game development environment;
  • Ability to manage and review the quality of the team’s output, ensuring it meets artistic and technical standards;
  • Skills in mentoring, guiding, and resolving artistic and technical challenges within the team, as well as providing clear, constructive feedback;
  • A refined artistic eye and commitment to high-quality visual standards;
  • Comprehensive industry knowledge of current pipelines, tools, and trends;
  • Strong expertise in full-cycle character creation, including high-poly sculpting (ZBrush), SubD modeling (3ds Max / Maya), topology for animation, cloth simulation (Marvelous Designer), anatomy, UV mapping, texture baking, and texturing (Substance Painter);
  • Upper-Intermediate+ English level (written and spoken) for seamless collaboration and documentation;
You’re a rockstar

if you have

  • Experience with game engines (Unreal 4 / 5, Unity, etc.);
  • Proven ability to create creatures;
  • Understanding of rigging and animation pipelines;
  • Strong foundational drawing skills.
As a part of Room 8 studio, you will
  • Develop 3D Realistic Characters Sub-division and lead projects in this direction;
  • Execute quality control of the work of artists in the team;
  • Assist and solve problems in the team that are related to the artistic and technical side of the project;
  • Organize the work of the team within the project and specific tasks;Create technical specifications and guides;
  • Build a team with the support of a strong recruiting department, participating in the hiring process as a technical interviewer and reviewer;
  • Develop a portfolio;
  • Estimate projects and take part in test projects;
  • Create high-poly and low-poly models of photoreal characters for games on given concepts;
  • Create optimal UV mapping and texture baking (normal, AO, etc.);
  • Work with texturing in Substance Painter (hand-paint texturing in case the project requirements).
