Our Project Management Office (PMO) is currently seeking a highly motivated and proactive R&D Project Manager to join our growing team.
Your Role as R&D Project Manager
You will be a key member of a passionate group of project leaders delivering complex, high-value European and national R&D and innovation projects across a range of industrial domains. This role combines strategic coordination with hands-on delivery, making it an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic professional who thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environments at the cutting edge of science and technology. The successful candidate will also play a strategic role in the growth of our innovation portfolio, through the strategic development of competitive project proposals.
Key Responsibilities in Project Management
- Lead the internal planning, execution, and reporting of ongoing R&D projects, primarily under Horizon Europe and national funding schemes.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary and cross-functional internal teams and external partners (industry, academia, research).
- Facilitate and ensure timely delivery of project milestones, technical deliverables (ensuring high standards of quality), and financial reports, effectively monitoring status of project risks, and ensuring compliance with internal and contractual requirements.
- Lead communication between IRIS, the European Commission (or other funding bodies), project partners, industrial end-users, and external stakeholders.
- Represent IRIS at project meetings, reviews, and external events.
Key Responsibilities in Proposal Writing
- Identify and analyse suitable funding opportunities (e.g., Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, national calls) and promote IRIS's capabilities and project ideas at brokerage events, info days, and innovation forums to build strategic partnerships.
- Coordinate the end-to-end proposal development process : from concept creation to submission.
- Contribute to the writing of technical and administrative sections of proposals, ensuring clarity, coherence, and compliance with call requirements.
- Prepare budgets, gather partner contributions, and align consortium roles and responsibilities.

Requirements : Requirements
- Master’s degree in Physics, Engineering or related scientific / technical field (PhD is a plus).
- At least 3 years of experience in research and / or industrial R&D environments- with a passion for science, technology and innovation).
- Understanding of innovation funding logic, proposal evaluation criteria, and capable of synthesising complex technical content into compelling narratives (demonstrated experience in Horizon Europe and / or proposal writing is a strong plus).
- Organised, self-driven, proactive, results-oriented professional and flexible team player with a strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
- Excellent leadership, facilitation, communication, networking, and interpersonal skills for engaging with cross-national partners, stakeholders and funding bodies.
- Excellent level of spoken and written English; Spanish is an asset.
- Willingness to travel and work in hybrid or remote settings as needed.
- The following skills and experience will be considered as valuable assets : knowledge of innovation management (IPR, exploitation, business models); Network of contacts in European innovation ecosystem, including funding bodies (NCPs, EU project officers, etc.); understanding of defining impact pathways and business exploitation plans for R&D and innovation initiatives.
