Job Title : Quality, Health, Safety & Environment Manager (Fleet) – CEMEA

Location : Madrid, Hybrid

Reporting to : Head of Fleet & Head of QHSE CEMEA

Job Summary

This role is a key part of the Regional QHSE team, combining in-depth knowledge of airport ground support equipment (GSE) and its maintenance with expertise in quality, health & safety, and environmental management. The role holder will develop and implement global and regional safety management policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all employees and compliance with current and future regulations.

The role supports the business in assessing the operational safety of all GSE in use in the region and oversees the implementation of safety measures in Fleet workshops. It also involves implementing the Swissport Management System according to ISO 9001, 45001, 14001, ISAGO, and other applicable standards to ensure consistent service delivery.

Job Responsibilities

GSE operational safety :

  • Lead GSE Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments and ensure Fleet organization implements necessary improvement actions.
  • Ensure risks related to Fleet are appropriately documented in operational risk registers.
  • Initiate and conduct investigations on GSE-related incidents.
  • Plan and coordinate KPI monitoring related to safety and quality (testing, inspections, statistical analysis).
  • Support safety improvement projects within the Swissport GSE fleet.

Fleet Workshop safety & qualifications :

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations at Fleet / Workshop level and document this in the legal register.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related qualifications and skills for Fleet activities.
  • Implement and support the development of QHSE management standards within the Fleet workshops.
  • Provide safety and environmental training for fleet employees.
  • Ensure workshops fully comply with the Swissport Management System and promote recycling and environmental awareness.

Other responsibilities :

  • Report to the Regional Head of QHSE and support the Regional Head of Fleet in relevant areas.
  • Deliver QHSE performance reports and support technical document management for GSE.
  • Participate in ISO 9001 Management Review processes and maintain good relations with OEMs, customers, and airport authorities.

Key Performance Indicators

  • GSE injury and damage rates.
  • Timely completion of TechEval assessments.
  • External audit compliance related to GSE and workshops.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Degree or professional qualification in a related field, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years' experience in safety management, preferably in industrial, automotive, or GSE-related environments.
  • Knowledge of safety laws and regulations in relevant countries.
  • Experience managing multiple sites.
  • Fluent in English, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for safety and quality improvement, with a proactive approach to continuous development.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite.
  • Integrity and professionalism.
