Summary / Role Purpose

• The Senior R&D Engineer will contribute to designing, developing, testing, and deploying modern web-based applications leveraging Ansys Structures technology. The role requires advanced technical and problem-solving skills to address complex issues, meet customer needs, and achieve development goals. Collaboration will be key to exposing backend services through intuitive web interfaces, following best practices for robust and secure software development.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

1. Participate in planning, architecture, and research activities.
2. Perform complex development tasks, including user experience, software design, and solver research.
3. Maintain best practices through technical reviews and mentoring.
4. Verify bugs, test releases, and support beta versions.
5. Research issues identified by QA or support teams and develop solutions.
6. Understand marketing requirements, target environments, and performance criteria.
7. Work with strategic customers or proxies to assess needs and develop solutions.
8. Work independently with minimal supervision; may mentor others and manage interns or co-ops.

Minimum Education / Certification and Experience

• MS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 3 years’ experience, or PhD with 1 year experience.
• Proficiency in Javascript / Typescript.
• Experience with client-server architecture and Web APIs (REST, gRPC, WebSocket).
• Experience in software design and development methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a rigorous mindset.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, especially in distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• Experience with web frameworks like Angular or React.
• Handling large datasets for 2D/3D visualization.
• Experience with DevOps tools and CI pipelines.
• Experience deploying web applications in a commercial environment.
