Job Description

LearnWise.ai is a scale-up modernizing educational institutions with virtual assistants, instructor efficiency, and student engagement solutions for higher education institutions. We are looking for an inspired and enthusiastic QA Engineer to join our team in a full-time capacity.

You will have the chance to join a mission-driven, VC-backed company with a track record of exponential growth. You will work closely with our leadership as a member of our LearnWise pack. We require creativity, innovation, and leadership from all team members, including interns. You will drive these values on your team. You will have the freedom (and expectation from our leadership) to develop and implement your own ideas.

What you’ll do:

  • Define and execute test strategies across functional, regression, integration, smoke, and exploratory testing.
  • Build and maintain E2E automation in Playwright or Cypress (TypeScript/JavaScript), including utilities, selectors, and fixtures.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD; track flakiness, stability, and coverage; continuously improve signal quality.
  • Manage releases with Brigita and engineering: cut release branches, coordinate RCs, run smoke checks, facilitate go/no-go, document release notes, and define rollback plans.
  • Create and maintain test plans, test cases, and test data; refine acceptance criteria with PM/design.
  • Identify and prioritize defects, and verify fixes.
  • Ensure cross-browser/device quality; advocate for accessibility, performance, and security considerations in testing.
  • Maintain test environments, data strategies, and feature flags to enable reliable test runs.
  • Define and report quality metrics (e.g., defect leakage, escape rate, test reliability) and convert insights into improvements.
  • Contribute to a quality-first culture through documentation, tooling, and coaching.

Requirements:

  • Fluent English communication skills (written and spoken).
  • 3+ years of professional software QA experience across manual and automated testing for web applications.
  • Hands-on experience building stable, maintainable E2E test suites in Playwright or Cypress.
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, SDLC, version control (Git), and CI/CD workflows.
  • Experience coordinating or owning release processes with engineering and product.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills; clear written and verbal communication.
  • Self-driven, resourceful, and passionate about applying technology to improve higher education.
  • You seek constructive criticism and are direct and open with others.
  • Accessibility testing (WCAG) and web performance testing fundamentals.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in education/edtech or building products for educators and learners.
  • API testing (REST/GraphQL), contract testing, or component/integration testing experience.
  • Experience with GitHub Actions/CircleCI and containerized test environments.
  • Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Sentry, Datadog) to inform test priorities.

What's in it for you?

  • Competitive compensation in a long-term remote or hybrid role.
  • Direct mentorship from senior leadership (CTO, Head of AI, Head of Product).
  • Work with a global team on cutting-edge AI applications.
  • Flexible working arrangements (results > hours).
  • A "no 9-5 mentality" and focus on work-life balance.

If you are passionate about engineering, eager to learn, and excited about working in a startup environment, this is your chance to work on innovative AI projects that directly improve student outcomes in higher education.
