The Opportunity

Reporting to the Property Portfolio Manager; your role is to underwrite business in accordance with the business plan and within delegated underwriting authority.

Your responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  1. Contributing to the delivery of the annual business plan by making appropriate decisions.
  2. Applying the reinsurance strategy to safeguard the Property portfolio.
  3. Participating in relevant meetings to share and develop strategy, knowledge, and best practices.
  4. Promoting the department, division, and company to maximize brand leverage.
  5. Performing underwriting activities in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  6. Adhering to underwriting standards and good practices to minimize risk and maximize efficiency.
  7. Recording and measuring insurance risks accurately.
  8. Understanding and complying with reinsurance requirements.
  9. Establishing and developing relationships with stakeholders, including customers, brokers, and partners.
  10. Demonstrating market awareness to enhance business performance.
  11. Maintaining expertise through continuous learning and development.
  12. Underwriting risks, negotiating rates, ensuring contract certainty, and supporting credit control.
  13. Reviewing portfolio performance and ensuring accurate data entry.
  14. Contributing to portfolio management and peer review processes.
  15. Motivating and coaching team members for ongoing development.
About You

You should have:

  • 4-5 years of experience in Property risk underwriting.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Organizational, prioritization, and analytical skills.
  • Interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to analyze data for decision-making.
  • Excellent teamwork abilities.
  • Understanding of underwriting and reinsurance specific to property risks.
  • Knowledge of market conditions and relevant systems.
  • Proficiency in software like Excel and departmental tools.
  • Legal and regulatory knowledge.
  • Strong command of English.
