A leading engineering services firm is seeking a Project Manager Utilities in Spain. This position involves managing high-budget utility project components while collaborating with key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in project management, particularly within EPCM settings, and demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills.

Formación

  • 5+ or 15+ years of experience as a Project Manager in similar roles.
  • Experience working with EPCM or EPC companies.
  • Relevant experience in process systems and electro-mechanical installations.

Responsabilidades

  • Responsible for the project management of utility infrastructure with a budget exceeding 30M EUR.
  • Collaborate with EPCM and permitting partners, ensuring project integration.

For our client in Ghent, we are hiring a Project Manager Utilities.

Joining an ambitious and dynamic project, you will be part of the project team in Ghent as a Project Manager for some of the Utility projects. Your experience will be key in supporting the team in handling the delivery on time and within budget of this major project.

Besides the main process vessel, there are also a lot of other critical steelmaking equipment/assets necessary to produce excellent steel qualities, e.g., hot metal ladle burners, steel ladle burners, steel ladle transfer cars, off-gas treatment, hydraulic systems, etc.

Key Tasks :

  • Responsible for the project management of parts of the Utilities infrastructure (budget > 30M EUR).
  • Collaborate closely with EPCM and permitting partners (review schedules, formulate civil scopes, enforce D&E standardization).
  • Ensure integration and validate brownfield adaptations as applicable.
  • Conduct reviews and approvals for documents, drawings, and change requests.
  • Coordinate internal reviews with stakeholders to address gaps and ensure follow-through.
  • Escalate governance issues promptly and suggest corrective actions.
  • Drive process improvements using lessons learned and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Analyze improvement areas via maturity assessments, evaluate use cases, prioritize, and propose actions.
  • Support and report to the Steelmaking plant project delivery lead.

Profile : Technical Skills :

  • Experience working with EPCM or EPC companies.
  • Expertise in Project Management.
  • Goal-oriented, results-driven, proactive, with leadership and attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator, capable of engaging with senior executives and stakeholders to meet deadlines.

Job Experience / Other Skills :

  • 5+ or 15+ years of experience as a Project Manager in similar roles (seeking medior/senior profiles).

Relevant experience in process systems (mainly water & piping) and electro-mechanical installations is required.

Professional certification in PMI or Prince2 is a plus.

Courses :

Master or Bachelor degree in engineering or equivalent technical education.

Language Skills :

Project language is English; knowledge of Dutch is required.

Others :

Regular travel to Spain or other European countries (Madrid, Bilbao).
