Main purpose of Class Teacher: Responsible for the learning and achievement of all pupils, ensuring equality of opportunity; accountable for standards in work and conduct; treat pupils with dignity; work collaboratively with learners, parents, staff, and external agencies; promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
Duties and responsibilities: Prepare and develop teaching materials; be accountable for pupils’ attainment, progress, and outcomes; differentiate teaching; understand pupils’ needs including SEN, gifted and talented, EAL, disabilities; promote high standards of literacy; use assessment strategies; give feedback; monitor progress; manage classroom environment; establish discipline; act as a positive role model; promote pupil independence; participate in meetings and professional development; collaborate with colleagues; communicate with parents.
