The Role:
Production Specialists are experts in production with several sub-specializations to oversee the final stages of the publishing process, delivering machine-readable online publications. They work with Publishing Managers, Production to ensure high quality and the efficient publishing of articles accepted in peer review.
Key Responsibilities:
Overseeing the entire production process, ensuring that each article is meticulously formatted according to our style guidelines, formats, and policies
Reviewing the final versions of papers to ensure that they meet our requirements for publication
Providing ongoing and continuous feedback to typesetters, where necessary, to improve typesetting processes through thorough root cause analysis.
Engaging with authors to find solutions to their needs and requests while ensuring publisher policies, industry best practice, and technical requirements are adhered to
Publishing articles online and in repositories, ensuring their discoverability
Working towards their individual KPIs, with their managers, to support continuous professional development.
Continuous work on Production and Typesetting guidelines to ensure optimal and streamline results.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience that will help you thrive in the role:
Ability to manage all phases of the production process (copyediting, formatting, proofing, validating online PDF and XML/HTML formats)
Understanding of the Open Access publishing landscape
Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
Time management skills
Organisational skills
Proactive attitude to problem solving and daily tasks
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to quickly and accurately manage large volumes of information and to take timely corrective actions to resolve bottlenecks.
Experience in mark-up languages (Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop and InDesign) and experience working with CRMs such as Salesforce would be an advantage
Publishing experience would be a plus
This role is hybrid , based in our Warsaw OR Madrid offices ; it is expected you must be in the office 3 days a week with working from home an option for the rest of the week.
