For our plant in Zuera (Zaragoza), we are looking for a Production Planner.
Dedicated to Zuera plant, the Production Planner will be responsible for the short-term scheduling of the plant, acting as a key connection between Sales (Customer Service) and Plant, with the final aim to promote information sharing between the two functions.
The resource will be responsible to link customers’ and plant’s needs in order to maximise service level as well as maximizing plant’s efficiency.
Together with the Raw Materials Planner, the Production Planner will also be responsible to generate the needs of raw materials to guarantee availability of them to run the scheduled productions.
The resource will be directly reporting into the Plant Manager but will have important connections with other Departments within Supply Chain such as Business Operations, Customer Service, Logistics, etc.
Main Activities
- Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules based on order requirements, capacity, and resource availability.
- Maintain Production Orders in SAP (opening).
- Work with Production Team to ensure timely closure of Production Orders in SAP.
- Coordinate closely with production supervisors, procurement, warehouse, and quality assurance to ensure seamless workflow and timely delivery.
- Monitor production progress and proactively resolve scheduling conflicts, material shortages, or labour issues.
- Coordinate with Procurement to ensure availability of raw materials.
- Inform Customer Service team on availability of Sales Orders and Stock Transfers.
- Communicate scheduling updates and changes to relevant departments (Production, Quality, Logistics, Customer Service).
- Participate in daily production meetings and communicate schedule changes proactively.
- In case of capacity restraints, provide Production with clear information about priorities and keep the plan duly updated.
- Analyse production data to improve scheduling accuracy and efficiency, minimizing changeovers between products whenever feasible.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in all scheduling activities.
- Utilize ERP/MRP systems to manage schedules and generate reports.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production planning and resource utilization.
- Balance inventory levels to meet customer needs while minimizing waste, overproduction, and storage costs.
- Work with Business Operations team to define target stock levels, if possible.
- Maintain Production Routings to guarantee alignment between ERP data and Production data.
- Manage intercompany transfers (generating POs in SAP) and work with the other company’s plants to ensure availability of intermediates (to and from Zuera).
Profile
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in production scheduling / planning, preferably in a chemical industry.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (preferably SAP).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic manufacturing setting.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in English.
Desirable
- Experience with SAP – PP / SD Module.
- Experience in Chemical industry.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma certification.
- Experience with scheduling software.
