Product System Development Engineer - Hardware

Role Overview: As a Product System Development Engineer - Hardware, you will manage project development according to timelines and budgets, coordinate across engineering domains (Requirements Management, Hardware, Software, Mechanics, Functional Safety, Validation, and Industrialization), and ensure the delivery of prototypes and project milestones in line with MAHLE PDP standards. Your responsibilities include designing for cost, manufacturing, and quality, as well as circuit analysis to meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the Product System Development Team Leader.
  • Manage technical aspects of new product development.
  • Apply lessons learned from previous projects.
  • Manage technical resources and interface with customers and production plants.
  • Analyze and negotiate customer requirements with the System Requirements Engineer.
  • Coordinate development tasks across technical domains.
  • Develop projects within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers on risk and cost analysis.
  • Ensure design to cost, manufacturing, and quality standards.
  • Plan and monitor development cycles and prototype maturity levels.
  • Approve Engineering Bills of Materials (eBOM) and manage release notes.
  • Organize technical reviews and conduct Design FMEA with quality department.
  • Define critical or safety characteristics of the product.
  • Resolve technical problems and support on-site activities.
  • Maintain communication with project management about progress.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electronics, Telecommunication Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, Physics, or similar.
  • Proficiency in Spanish (C1); knowledge of German and French is a plus.
  • Technical background in electronics development, especially automotive electronics.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, MAHLE-specific tools like MahCad.
  • Knowledge in hardware, e-layout, software, mechanics, validation, functional safety, prototyping, and industrialization.
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation and test setups (CANoe, INCA, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.).
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills and electronics problem resolution.
  • Experience coordinating technical teams and knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with LT Spice, Automotive SPICE, ISO26262, and cybersecurity.
  • Experience in customer and supplier interactions, automotive sector, and power electronics.
