X-ELIO, a Brookfield-owned global renewable energy leader, seeks a Procurement & Contracts Engineer in Madrid. You will support strategic procurement and contract management across international projects, collaborating with Engineering, Development and Finance teams.

Formación

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Around 2+ years of professional experience in engineering, construction, infrastructure, or renewable energy.
• Experience with multidisciplinary project environments and stakeholders.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong reporting capabilities.
• Experience with procurement processes, tenders, contracts or EPC projects is valued.

Responsabilidades

• Support procurement activities within international renewable energy projects across the full lifecycle.
• Coordinate tender processes (RFP/RFQ), bidder communication, clarification, evaluation and supplier selection for EPC, BOP, BESS, equipment and service contracts.
• Review engineering documentation and supplier proposals to support evaluations and procurement recommendations.
• Assist in preparation and negotiation of EPC, BOP, BESS, Substation and O&M agreements; analyze deviations and risks.
• Collaborate with Legal, Finance and internal stakeholders on contract reviews and strategies.
• Monitor procurement milestones and support project teams during execution.
• Develop relationships with strategic suppliers and conduct qualification meetings and performance monitoring.
• Contribute to procurement process improvements and adoption of digital tools including AI.

Procurement & Contracts Engineer

The selected professional will support strategic procurement and contract management activities across the full lifecycle of international renewable energy projects, from early development and tendering phases through contract award and supplier management.

This position is designed for engineers who want to develop a long-term career combining technical project knowledge, procurement strategy, contract management and commercial negotiation within the renewable energy sector.

The role will act as a key interface between Procurement, Engineering, Development, Construction, Legal and Finance teams, supporting technical and commercial evaluations, supplier selection, contract negotiations and procurement decisions for complex renewable energy projects including solar PV, BESS, substations and other critical infrastructure packages.

What will you do?

• Support procurement activities within international renewable energy projects, working closely with Engineering, Development and Construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate tender processes, including RFP/RFQ preparation, bidder communication, clarification processes, evaluation and supplier selection for EPC, BOP, BESS, equipment and service contracts.
• Review engineering documentation, technical specifications and supplier proposals to support technical and commercial evaluations, bid comparisons and procurement recommendations.
• Support the preparation, review and negotiation of EPC, BOP, BESS, Substation and O&M agreements, including analysis of contractual deviations, commercial conditions and project risks.
• Collaborate with Legal, Finance and internal stakeholders to support contract reviews, negotiation strategies and decision-making processes.
• Monitor procurement milestones, support project teams during execution and ensure alignment between procurement activities and project objectives.
• Develop and maintain relationships with strategic suppliers and contractors, supporting qualification processes, supplier meetings and performance monitoring.
• Contribute to procurement process improvements, reporting tools, benchmarking activities and the adoption of digital solutions, including AI tools, to improve efficiency and decision-making.

What do we need?

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Energy Engineering or related technical disciplines).
• Around 2+ years of professional experience in engineering, construction, infrastructure, industrial projects, utilities or renewable energy.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary project environments involving technical, commercial and contractual stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to understand technical documentation and evaluate commercial aspects of projects.
• Previous exposure to procurement processes, tenders, contracts or EPC projects is highly valued.
• Experience with renewable energy projects, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transmission infrastructure or other large‑scale infrastructure projects is a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong reporting capabilities.
• SAP Ariba experience is desirable; knowledge of Power BI and AI‑based tools will be positively considered.
• Professional English required; Spanish is desirable and Italian would be an advantage.
• Commercial mindset, technical curiosity, strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.
