Descripción del empleo

We are looking for a Process Integration & Yield Engineer to join our PI&Y team at Graphenea, a leading player in the semiconductor industry focusing on graphene-based electronics.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and optimising 2D semiconductor manufacturing processes, improving yield, and troubleshooting issues to meet high production standards and customer demands.

As a PI&Y engineer, you will work closely with the FAB, QUALITY and PROJECTS team, interfacing with manufacturing engineers and technicians as well as carrying out quality assurance to drive the integration of different process steps and identify areas for improvement.

Your primary objective will be to enhance product performance and quality while minimising defects, all within the boundaries of our advanced semiconductor technologies.

Given the multidisciplinary nature of many projects, you might need to learn quickly about topics that might be outside your background.

We encourage applications from all backgrounds, communities and industries, and are committed to having a team that is made up of diverse skills, experiences and abilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Process Integration: Integrate and optimise various semiconductor processes such as growth and transfer of graphene, photolithography, wet and dry etching, PVD and ALD depositions, etc. to create novel or to improve existing device architectures and products.
  • Yield Enhancement: Analyse and troubleshoot yield issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to improve yield.
  • Process Development & Optimization: Work together with the FAB team on developing new processes or modifying existing ones to meet product specifications, cost targets, and yield objectives.
  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data from the production line, perform statistical analysis and try to predict yield performance.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams to improve process integration and drive continuous improvements.
  • Failure Analysis: Conduct failure analysis on processed wafers, determining the root cause of yield-limiting defects.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain clear documentation of findings, process changes, and performance improvements. Prepare regular reports summarising the most important information, conveying the actions taken and future ones in a cohesive and comprehensible way.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Education: Master's degree in Physics, Nanotechnology, Materials Science, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Certain experience with semiconductor manufacturing processes, such as photolithography, deposition, etching, and etching. Certain experience with yield improvement techniques and tools (SPC, DOE, FMEA, statistical analysis).
  • Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking. Familiarity with semiconductor data analysis software, as well as CAD tools for the design of semiconductor devices (e.g. Klayout). Basic knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing equipment and related tools. Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team. Advanced level of written and spoken English. You need to be able to work within Spain.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Physics, Nanotechnology, Materials Science, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; ideally you have carried out your thesis working with graphene or TMDC.
  • Solid knowledge of solid-state and semiconductor physics.
  • Extensive experience working with 2D materials and specifically graphene.
  • Awareness and comprehension of the differences between standard bulk materials vs 2D materials.
  • Hands-on experience with semiconductor manufacturing tools and processes.
  • Familiarity with defect analysis techniques and root cause analysis.
  • Proficient level of written and spoken English.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in the semiconductor industry.
  • A collaborative, innovative, and dynamic work environment.
  • Lead projects and develop technologies, NPD's and NPI's with a real impact in our society.
  • Multidisciplinary projects.
  • Join a company with great growth perspectives.
  • Relocation help and benefits.
