Job description

Are you ready to trade your job for a journey? Become a FlyMate!

Passion, excitement & global collaboration are all core to what it means to be a FlyMate. At Flywire, we’re on a mission to deliver the world’s most important and complex payments. We use our Flywire Advantage - the combination of our next-gen payments platform, proprietary payment network and vertical specific software, to help our clients get paid, and help their customers pay with ease - no matter where they are in the world.

Who We Are

Flywire is a global payments enablement and software company, founded more than a decade ago to solve high-stakes, high-value payments. We’ve scaled into new regions and industry verticals and expanded our product offerings to deliver meaningful value to our clients around the world.

Today we support more than 5,100 clients across the global education, healthcare, travel & B2B industries, with diverse payment methods across 240 countries & territories and more than 140 currencies.

With over 1,400+ global FlyMates, representing more than 40 nationalities, and in 15 offices world-wide, we’re looking for FlyMates to join the next stage of our journey as we continue to grow.

The Opportunity

We are hiring a Principal Product Manager for Payment Orchestration and Connectivity to help build the intelligence and connectivity at the core of Flywire's global payments platform.

This is a senior and highly influential individual contributor role for a payments platform leader who understands how to route and optimise money movement across card networks, processors, acquirers, banks and global payment rails.

The initial mandate is to build smart routing and optimisation across payment acceptance. The broader charter spans reusable connectivity and orchestration capabilities across pay-ins and bank payments through to payouts.

This is a strategic platform role. Partnering with senior leaders across the business, you will build a connected end to end three year vision and strategy for the platform. You will identify and evaluate opportunities across payment methods, rails, processors and banks. From there you will build the business case for investment and advise leaders on where the greatest customer and commercial impact lies. In close partnership with engineering, you will shape the product and architecture strategy for routing, provider connectivity, normalised APIs and payment lifecycle visibility.

You will turn complex payment economics and performance data into clear priorities and a platform roadmap grounded in what customers need. Your work will influence multiple product teams and help build capabilities that scale across markets and business models as well as payment flows.

You bring deep experience in payment processing and provider connectivity, including cards and bank rails such as ACH or SEPA. You can move comfortably between commercial strategy and technical architecture. You are able to influence senior stakeholders and make sound investment decisions when things are complex or ambiguous.

What You'll Do

Strategy and Roadmap: Own the routing and orchestration roadmap. Partner with domain PMs to shape an integrated platform roadmap that connects shared capabilities, dependencies and sequencing across acceptance, pricing, onboarding, risk and payouts, recommending cross domain tradeoffs where needed.

Smart Routing: Build intelligent routing that improves authorisation rates, reliability, conversion and processing economics.

Global Connectivity: Shape scalable connectivity across processors, acquirers, card networks and banks, covering rails such as ACH, SEPA, Faster Payments and other regional systems.

Platform Architecture: Establish normalised payment APIs with consistent lifecycle states and provider outcomes across card and bank payments.

Orchestration: Extend common orchestration capabilities across both pay-ins and payouts over time.

Cross Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, Data Science, Risk, Treasury, Operations and Commercial teams to deliver a resilient global payments platform.

Qualifications
Who we're looking for:

Product Leadership: A senior, hands on product leader who has built payment processing, orchestration, routing or gateway platforms at scale.

Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of how money moves end to end, including acceptance, settlement, refunds, returns, reconciliation and payouts.

Integration Experience: A proven track record integrating with processors, acquirers, card networks, banks and alternative payment providers.

Payment Rails Knowledge: Strong knowledge of card payments alongside bank rails such as ACH, SEPA, Faster Payments, wires or real time payment networks.

Platform and Data Mindset: Strong platform thinking, with the ability to turn fragmented provider and rail capabilities into consistent, reusable products. Metrics driven and experienced in using data and experimentation, including intelligent decisioning, to improve payment performance.

Influence and Execution: Able to set strategy and drive execution across multiple teams without relying on direct authority.

Language and Location: Professional fluency in written and spoken English. You must hold valid authorisation to work in Spain.
