Fresco is looking for a Principal Platform Engineer for our IoT Team with Python and AWS experience to drive the design and development of the next generation of our multi-sided smart kitchen platform: the Fresco KitchenOS. Fresco is experiencing significant growth as an end-to-end IoT and guided cooking platform providing award-winning capabilities and experiences for appliance manufacturers, recipe producers, and home cooks.

You will be based out of our Madrid office or remotely within Spain, reporting to the VP of Platform Engineering, who is also based in Spain.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the Architectural Vision: Define and champion the technical roadmap for Fresco KitchenOS IoT Platform, ensuring scalability for millions of users.
• Mentor and Inspire: Guide and empower your team to deliver world-class engineering solutions.
• Forge Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the seamless integration of KitchenOS.
• Champion Innovation: Foster a culture of creativity and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
• Technical Expertise: Provide deep technical expertise across the entire platform, from firmware to databases and APIs.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience: Leading and architecting highly scalable distributed systems for IoT (millions of devices!).
• 5+ years of experience: Managing and delivering secure IoT platform deployments.
• Proven leadership: A demonstrated track record of leading and inspiring high-performing engineering teams.
• Technical Mastery: In-depth expertise in Python, AWS (including IoT Core, S3, DynamoDB, and Lambda), and data platform architectures.
• Security Champion: A strong commitment to building and maintaining secure IoT platforms.
• Exceptional communication: The ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strategic thinker: A keen understanding of the competitive landscape and the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
• A passion for learning: A relentless drive to stay ahead of the curve and embrace new technologies.
• Fluent English: A must.

• A Master's degree in computer science or a related field.
• Experience in a leadership role within a high-growth technology company.
• A proven track record of successful innovation initiatives.
• Experience mentoring and developing junior engineers.
