Elastic is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead performance tuning for Elasticsearch in Spain. You will own performance initiatives from architecture to production, building models and strategies to keep Elasticsearch fast, scalable, and predictable across diverse environments.

You'll profile complex distributed systems, leverage AI-assisted tooling for optimization, and mentor peers to drive a culture of high-performance engineering.

Formación

• Deep knowledge of Java internals and JVM memory management.
• Experience profiling and optimizing distributed systems and benchmarking.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems architecture and scaling challenges.

Responsabilidades

• Own core performance engineering initiatives from architecture to production.
• Develop performance models and methodologies for distributed systems.
• Drive optimization strategies for performance, predictability, and scale.
• Profile and analyze system behavior to identify bottlenecks in logging, metrics, vector search, and ES|QL.
• Ensure robust performance benchmarks and regression detection for stateful and serverless architectures.
• Collaborate to embed performance-first thinking into new features.
• Drive automation by building AI-assisted optimization tools for profiling and benchmarking.
• Mentor engineers and foster performance-aware development.
