About the Role
As Principal Infrastructure Engineer at Dakota, you will lead efforts to architect, build, and maintain our infrastructure as code (IaC) platform. This critical role demands engineering excellence with a focus on creating scalable, resilient systems that uphold the highest standards of availability and security. You'll be instrumental in designing an extensible infrastructure that empowers our development team through exceptional developer experience. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our infrastructure supports our rapid growth while maintaining operational excellence across our platforms.
Google Cloud Platform (GCP) as our primary cloud infrastructure provider
Kubernetes for orchestrating our containerized microservices
Golang for most of our backend services and infrastructure tools
TypeScript and React for our front-end applications, deployed via Vercel
TimescaleDB for time-series data management and financial transaction history
GCP Confidential Computing for secure execution environments
Buildkite for CI / CD pipelines and deployment automation
GitHub for version control and collaboration
Sentry for error tracking and Incident.io for incident management
Requirements
5+ years in infrastructure-related software engineering roles
Strong background in running Kubernetes clusters on Google Cloud Platform
Experience managing processes such as on-call rotations and incident response
Proficiency with monitoring and alerting tools (Grafana, Sentry, etc.)
Experience with CI / CD pipelines and deployment automation
Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose complex system issues
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering teams
Located in a time zone between UTC-7 and UTC+1
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading or substantially contributing to SOC 2 or ISO 27001 compliance efforts
Comfort contributing to the product code base (Golang) as needed
Familiarity with or interest in using Pulumi to manage declarative infrastructure
Understanding of private key management and / or cryptography, including key sharding
