About the job :

BBVA CIB is looking for an Equity Engineering Team Manager to work multifunctionally with the business and lead a dedicated development team.

Main functions :

  • Manage a team working on our Equities product family and provide IT technical leadership and support.
  • Conduct regular one-to-one and staff meetings. Set performance standards, review performance, and provide feedback.
  • Work with the Product Owners of Equity Projects to ensure adequate resources are in place. Monitor completion of each person's deliverables. Mentor and develop technical crew at lower grade levels.
  • Lead the evolution of the relationship with the existing technology partners, implementing a long term, highly efficient and sustainable delivery and support model.
  • Align the Technology and Product strategies, owning the roadmap with the responsibility of implementing it efficiently and with adequate time to market to allow the business to prosper, supporting the different business Product Owners on the steering of the product across multiple geographical stakeholders, and guaranteeing its alignment with compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Day-to-day management of projects and support - budget control, delivery management, with consolidated reporting to the Equities IT discipline.

The role will report to :

  • Direct line into the Services Owners of Equities discipline.
  • Dotted lines into the different business Product Owners.

Requirements :

  • Experience from 5 or 6 years in leading development teams.
  • Experience with implementation of information technology integrations in a large division / company.
  • Knowledge of information technology computer systems and software and the ability to manage the entire spectrum of information technology operations in the context of Global Market.
  • English is required for day-to-day performance of duties.
  • Strong grounding in a technology role and solid background in Markets notably the Equities Market. Experience in Equity Finance projects would be appreciated.
  • Knowledge of Murex integration APIs (Processing Script, Reporting API, MDRS / MDCS APIs) will be highly valued.
  • Technical knowledge in Java or Python, and ability to address problems and challenges that arise during the project and identify effective solutions.
  • Ability to deal with technology vendors.
  • Ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders in various regions, particularly in the BBVA Markets (i.e., Spain, Europe, Latin America, US).
  • Proven ability to manage projects following Agile and Waterfall methodologies and a proven track record of managing development teams in multiple locations.

Soft Skills :

  • Experience in planning and execution. Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.
  • Confident and practiced communicator, with excellent stakeholder management skills, both internally and externally.
  • Capable of interacting with customers both electronically and in-person.
  • Works cooperatively and productively with others, openly exchanging information and supporting colleagues from around the organisation to achieve business goals.
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to build commitment to defined strategies and approaches.
  • Ability to see how parts of the organisation and system infrastructure interact with the whole (holistic thinking).
