This role focuses on strengthening the organisation’s reputation across European media, with particular responsibility for day‑to‑day activity in Spain. Working within the European Media Relations team and closely with colleagues across Corporate Affairs, the PR Manager will help shape how the business is represented in key markets and ensure accurate, timely and proactive communication with journalists and external stakeholders.

The position offers the opportunity to work in an international environment, contribute to high‑profile media activity and support the delivery of a coordinated communications strategy across multiple countries. It is well suited to someone who is confident with media engagement, comfortable working across borders and able to identify strong stories within a complex financial environment.

Main responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the media strategy across Continental Europe, supporting projects that highlight the organisation’s investment capabilities and broader business priorities.
  • Lead day‑to‑day media relations activity in Spain, working with the Senior Media Relations Manager and the local PR agency to identify stories, develop news angles and engage with trade, regional, national and broadcast media.
  • Build strong relationships with journalists and key media stakeholders, ensuring accurate and timely communication.
  • Work with internal teams to identify opportunities and risks, advising on media considerations and supporting the management of reputational issues.
  • Support the development of proactive corporate campaigns across European markets.
  • Draft press releases, briefings, Q&A documents and other communication materials.
  • Organise and attend interviews, visits and events as required.
  • Assist in assessing the wider impact of emerging issues and help develop appropriate responses.
  • Respond to media enquiries and prepare clear lines to take.
  • Work with colleagues across Corporate Affairs to deliver pan‑European projects and support wider departmental activity.
  • Review media coverage and contribute to evaluation of campaign performance and KPIs.
Knowledge, skills and experience
  • Experience in day‑to‑day media relations and confidence engaging with journalists in person, by phone and in writing.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to draft clear, accurate and engaging content.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English, with the ability to translate short pieces of content.
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex financial and organisational information.
  • Journalistic skills, including identifying stories and drafting longer‑form content.
  • Well organised, able to manage multiple projects and maintain strong attention to detail.
  • Understanding of media measurement and evaluation.
  • Comfortable adapting to changing priorities and working in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different countries.
  • Knowledge of financial services or asset management is helpful, though not essential.
  • Experience working in an international team or environment is desirable.
