IMDEA Energy is opening a Postdoctoral Researcher Position for the Photoactivated Processes Unit, seeking talented candidates for developing artificial intelligence tools focused on automating material synthesis processes and their evaluation in solar fuel production.

The contract is funded by “Comunidad de Madrid” under the FotoArt5.0-CM project (TEC-2024/TEC-308), through the “Tecnologías 2024” R&D programme.

The candidate will join the Photoactivated Processes Unit, which has established an artificial intelligence laboratory for energy research. The focus is on developing new materials and production processes for sustainable chemical products, supported by digitization and robotization technologies. The technician's activities will include:

Tasks:

  • Developing hardware and software tools for material synthesis and evaluation using robotic systems and Machine Learning algorithms.
  • Selecting, commissioning, and maintaining automation equipment, designing optimal workflows for synthesis and evaluation tasks.
  • Integrating robotic systems and programming them to perform specified tasks.
  • Combining robotic systems with decision-making tools based on Machine Learning.
  • Disseminating research results through scientific publications and conferences.
  • Supervising Master’s or undergraduate students.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with Machine Learning, Automation, and Computer Vision.

Specific Skills:

  • Mechatronic design experience.
  • Knowledge of robotic manipulation and implementation.
  • English communication skills, both oral and written.
Additional Information

The contract includes benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System. Duration: until December 2028.
