The European Commission is inviting applications for a postdoctoral researcher in neuroimmunology. Postdoctoral Research Opportunity – Neuroimmunology & Systems Immunology
Location: IDIBAPS Institute for Biomedical Research, Barcelona, Spain
Start Date: Flexible from September 2025

We are inviting applications for apostdoctoral researcherto join our interdisciplinary team at IDIBAPS, as part of the ongoingERC-funded project: “Unravelling the role of neuronal antibodies and innate immunity partnership in human autoimmune encephalitis”

This ambitious project seeks to define how adaptive immune responses—particularlyautoantibodies—interact withinnate immune mechanismsto drive the pathogenesis ofanti-NMDAR encephalitis, a severe autoimmune neurological disorder. The position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection ofneuroimmunology,systems immunology, andtranslational medicine.

Skills/Qualifications

• PhD in immunology, neuroscience, bioengineering, bioinformatics, or a related field
• Extensive experience with immunology experimental techniques, including:
  • Flow cytometry (panel design, data acquisition, high-dimensional data analysis)
  • Cell culture, molecular biology, and cellular assays
• Proficiency or strong interest in bioinformatics and analysis of omics datasets (e.g., R, Python)
• Familiarity with systems serology and/or glycomics is an advantage
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral
• Experience mentoring junior researchers and contributing to publications and grant writing (preferred)

Specific Requirements

• PhD completed or near completion in immunology, neuroscience, bioengineering, bioinformatics, or related disciplines
• Demonstrated expertise in flow cytometry, including panel design and high-dimensional data analysis
• Experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques, including cell culture
• Skills or strong interest in bioinformatics and omics data integration (R, Python preferred)
• Knowledge or experience in systems serology and/or glycomics is a strong plus
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams
• Excellent command of English, both spoken and written
• Commitment to mentoring junior researchers and participating in scientific publications and grant applications
