Offer Description

AMADE (Analysis and Advanced Materials for Structural Design), is a research group from the University of Girona (UdG) internationally recognised for its leadership in innovation and scientific excellence on composite materials. We are dedicated to developing advanced solutions in industrial sectors such as aeronautical, automotive or civil engineering, as well as in emerging areas such as sustainable hydrogen. Our team, ranked among the top 2% most cited worldwide by the Stanford University, leads European projects and collaborates with prestigious global companies and institutions.

Our core research lines include:

  • Mechanical Simulation of Materials and Structures: Numerical Modelling, Constitutive Models, applied AI and Machine Learning, etc.
  • Experimental Characterization of the Mechanical Behaviour of Materials: Impact, fatigue, etc.
  • Materials Science: Thermal analysis, Rheology, Polymer Science, Curing Kinetics, etc.
  • Civil Engineering: Reinforced and Strengthened Civil Structures, End-of-Life reuse of structural elements in constructions, etc.
  • Manufacturing Engineering: 3D printing and composite's manufacturing in general.

In this context, AMADE is seeking a motivated researcher holding a PhD awarded between January 1st, 2024, and December 31st, 2025. The selected candidate will be supported by AMADE in his/her application for a Spanish-funded, two-year, postdoctoral contract under the Juan de la Cierva program funded by the Spanish Ministry of Innovation.

Duration of the grant: 2 years

The gross remuneration is: data from the corresponding call (Minimum remuneration of 28.000 euros gross per year and up to 32.300 euros per year)

  • A PhD in a relevant field such as Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Physics, or related disciplines.
  • Strong background in engineering and technologies related to our field.
  • Creative, innovative, and independent thinking, with the ability to contribute to cutting-edge research and solve complex engineering challenges.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to research and development.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with colleagues, partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge on experimental testing methodologies is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with collaborative environments is a plus.

Eligibility criteria

Since this position is intended to jointly apply for the Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral grant, requirements are:

  • Obtained the doctorate between January 1 2024 and December 31 2025.
  • International research: Have stayed during the doctorate in countries other than the one where the thesis was defended, for more than 1 month. And/or having done post-doctoral stays in countries other than the thesis, for more than 3 months.
  • Have international publications (in journals indexed in JCR).
  • Not having submitted the Ramón y Cajal grant simultaneously.
