Descripción del empleo

The Cancer Predisposition and Biomarkers Lab (CPBL), at the Santiago Biomedical Research Institute (IDIS), is offering a postdoctoral position funded by the CRIS contra el cancer foundation. The CPBL is an emerging research group at the forefront of cancer genomics. Our work focuses on: (1) deciphering genomic risk factors for colorectal cancer through post-GWAS strategies; (2) identifying pharmacogenomic markers of treatment response and toxicity; and (3) developing biomarkers using integrative omics and liquid biopsy approaches. More about our work: CPBL at IDIS - https://www.idisantiago.es/en/grupo-de-investigacion/e055-cancer-predisposition-and-biomarkers/.We are offering a one-year postdoctoral position, renewable based on performance and funding. The annual gross salary is approximately 30,000€. The researcher will also be supported to apply for additional postdoctoral funding to promote the competitivity of their CV. Start date Q3 2025. This is a dry lab, on-site position at IDIS (Santiago de Compostela, Spain). Due to the collaborative nature of the research, remote work is not possible. The researcher will participate in ongoing projects in colorectal cancer genomics and pharmacogenomics. These include the identification of novel risk loci using GWAS, eQTLs, TWAS and intermediate phenotype approaches, as well as risk stratification models (PRS and TRS). Despite being a new group, we have established a strong publication record (List of CPBL publications - https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/?term=fernandez-rozadilla&sort=date)Are you the one? Required qualifications
  • PhD in Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in genomics and computational biology.
  • Proven experience in GWAS and/or post-GWAS analyses (TWAS, eQTL)
  • Programming skills in R, Python, or similar languages for bioinformatics analysis.
  • Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) environments and genomic databases.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative research environment.
Desirable:
  • Mentorship experience: guiding junior researchers and students.
  • Excellent communication and scientific writing skills, including experience in manuscript preparation and grant applications.
