Job summary

The 3D-ENERMAT group at the Renewable Energy Research Institute (IIER), UCLM, Albacete, Spain, seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to apply for the Juan de la Cierva 2026 call. The candidate will work on lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries, utilizing 3D printing to advance electrodes and cell architectures.

The position offers a 3-year full-time contract with AEI funding (€35,700 per contract) plus €15,000 for research-related costs, and access to IIER facilities.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering or a related field, with a thesis on batteries, electrochemistry or energy materials.
• Experience in synthesis and characterisation of electrode materials and/or cell assembly and electrochemical testing.
• Publications in leading journals of the field (Q1/D1), ideally several as first author.
• Research stays in international centres and contributions to international conference.
• Participation in projects and outreach activities.
• Distinctions such as International Doctorate mention or competitive predoctoral contracts are highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit the Juan de la Cierva 2026 application in collaboration with the host group.
• Conduct research on lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries and 3D-printed electrodes.
• Collaborate with the IIER group to advance materials and device studies.
• Publish results in high-impact journals and present at conferences.
