ICN2 in Barcelona invites a Research Support Technician to join the Novel Energy - Oriented Materials Group. The role focuses on supporting zinc-ion battery projects using prussian blue materials, preparing electroactive nanomaterials, and assembling and testing cells.

Applicants should hold a degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or Chemistry; a Master’s is a plus, with experience in batteries, slurry preparation, and electrochemical techniques. English writing skills are required.

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, materials science or chemistry.
• Master's degree would be an advantage.
• Experience with supercapacitors and batteries development.
• Experience with slurry preparation and device testing.
• Familiarity with electrochemical characterization techniques.

Responsabilidades

• Support development of zinc ion batteries based on prussian blue materials.
• Prepare electroactive nanomaterials and characterize them (CV, FTIR, TEM, SEM).
• Prepare electrodes and assemble cells.
• Carry out electrochemical measurements (CV, GCD, impedance) and analyze data.
• Write scientific reports documenting methods and results.

Job Title

Description of Group/Project

Novel Energy‑Oriented Materials Group works in materials science and electrochemistry for energy‑related applications. It leads several research projects and industrial contracts in energy storage and conversion. We design and synthesise new materials, including graphene, other nanocarbons, nanostructured conducting polymers and hybrid nanocomposite materials for use in energy storage devices such as rechargeable lithium batteries or other non‑lithium technologies (i.e. sodium and zinc), supercapacitors and hybrid devices.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

• Support on the development of zinc ion batteries based on prussian blue materials.
• Electroactive nanomaterials preparation and their characterization (CV, FTIR, TEM, SEM…)
• Electrodes preparation and cell assembly.
• Electrochemical measurements (CV, GCD, impedance) for cell characterization.
• Writing scientific reports.

Requirements

• Education:
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Science and/or Chemistry.
  • Master holding would be a plus.
• Knowledge and Professional Experience:
  • Supercapacitors and batteries development.
  • Slurry preparation.
  • Characterization techniques for electroactive materials (electrochemical, electronic microscopy, chemical analysis) and device performance.
• Personal Competences:
  • Proactivity.
  • Team‑working and collaborative person.
  • Good communication and writing skills in English will be required (Spanish and Catalan desirable).
