Offer Description

The Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (IIIA-CSIC) and the Institute for Economics (IAE-CSIC) are offering a two year fully-funded Postdoc position in Artificial Intelligence and social Sciences.

We are looking for researchers that propose to work on the intersection of computer science and quantitative social science, bringing together cutting-edge methods in NLP and integrating this into quantitative work on social and political disruptions. A PostDoc will join a research group between the IIIA (CSIC) and the IAE (CSIC) to investigate the use of text-based measures for social science research. Our team is actively engaged with policymakers in the UN, IMF, and several working on stability. Through a recent ERC (Media, Economics and Geopolitics), we have access to the EMM data.

The position is offered in the context of the ALLIES postdoctoral training program in Artificial Intelligence led by the Spanish National Research Council, coordinated through the AIHUB Connection, and co-funded by the European Union under the HORIZON EUROPE MSCA COFUND program framework. ALLIES aims to recruit 17 postdoctoral researchers in 3 different Calls who will conduct interdisciplinary and intersectorial research in Artificial Intelligence aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The candidates will be working with Prof Hannes Muller (IAE) and Dr Jesús Cerquides (IIIA). He / she will spend one year at each research institute and will be part of a vibrant and interdisciplinary ALLIES community.

Minimum Requirements

PhD with the capacity to develop a research proposal and work independently and in collaboration with the position-associated senior researchers.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill the MSCA COFUND rules :

1. Mobility rule : Researchers may not have resided or carried out their main activity (work or studies) in Spain for more than 12 months in the three years immediately before the date of the call deadline.
2. Degree rule : Researchers must be in possession of a doctoral degree at the deadline of the co-funded program's call. Researchers who have successfully defended their doctoral thesis but not yet formally awarded the doctoral degree will also be considered as postdoctoral researchers.
