Job summary

IRB Barcelona is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Biomedical Genomics Lab (BBGLab) led by Dr. Núria López-Bigas.

The role focuses on computational genomics analyses and the development of AI agentic systems to aid answering biological questions at scale. The candidate will participate in a state-of-the-art international project, co-developing an agentic system to enable human-AI scientific collaboration and uncover molecular mechanisms of tumorigenesis.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biomedicine, Biomedical informatics, Bioinformatics, Informatics, Physics, or Mathematics.
• MsC in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biomedicine or similar.
• Hands-on experience in machine learning.
• Proficiency in Python and R for data analysis.
• Ability to design and conduct independent computational analyses.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• Motivated, collaborative, and eager to learn.
• Ability to work independently in a demanding research environment.

Responsibilities

• Independently design and test computational genomics analyses, interpret and discuss results.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team and external collaborators.
• Contribute to a culture of scientific excellence and teamwork.
• Maintain protocols and laboratory resources in the group.
• Critically analyze results and participate in scientific discussions and reports.
