A leading Spanish university in Spain is offering an internship opportunity for students in Agricultural Sciences or related fields. The student will work on a project involving new irrigation technologies to prevent soil compaction and diseases, conducting laboratory assays and greenhouse trials. Successful candidates will gain technical and soft skills, collaborating with a research team and participating in international online meetings.
Posizione
Overview : The student is expected to be involved in a European project, Hort2the Future, related to the use of new irrigation technologies to prevent soil compaction and soil-borne diseases.
Key Responsibilities: During the stay, the student will work on various project activities involving multidisciplinary tasks. This includes greenhouse trials and laboratory assays to study the response of plants to infections when using micro and nanobubbles in irrigation water.
Molecular biology methodologies will be applied, including:
to identify and quantify pathogens.
Additionally, plant physiological parameters such as photosynthesis rate, stomatal conductance, transpiration, and root growth will be measured.
Skills Developed :
Reflection : This internship will provide the student with knowledge of new techniques (macro- and nano-bubbles) applied in irrigation systems to manage soil compaction, oxygen deficiency in roots, and soil-borne infections.
The student will join a research team consisting of 3 senior researchers, 1 post-doctoral researcher, 2 master students, and 1 technician, participating in online meetings with other European partners.
Candidate Characteristics
Foreign Languages: Knowledge of at least one of the following languages is required:
Previous Work Experience: Master's or undergraduate student in Agricultural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Biology, or Biotechnology.
Disciplinary Area: Agricultural Engineering
